“Update”

Dalam babak penyisihan menuju gelar jawara American Idol Season 7, 2008 ini, satu persatu kontestan tentunya tersisih. Yang pertama David Hernandez (tersisih, tgl. 12-03-2008), berikutnya Amanda Overmeyer (tersisih, tgl. 19-03-2008), Chikeze Eze (tersisih, tgl. 26-03-2008), Ramiele Malubay (tersisih, tgl. 02-04-2008), Michael Johns (tersisih, tgl. 09-04-2008), Kristy Lee Cook (tersisih, tgl. 16-04-2008), Carly Smithson (tersisih, tgl. 23-04-2008). Akhirnya tersisa 5 orang lagi yang menempati 5 besar, yaitu : David Archuletta, David Cook, Jason Castro, Brooke White dan Syesha Mercado. Nah, kira-kira siapa yang bakal menempati urutan 1, 2, 3, 4 dan 5.

Sebagai bahan acuan untuk bisa memprediksi saja mungkin bisa dilihat dari penampilan-penampilan yang sudah-sudah. Walaupun tetap tidak membuat penampilan yang telah lalu menjadi patokan keberhasilan seorang kontestan untuk tetap melaju, karena bagaimanapun faktor keberuntungan pun tetap ikut andil. Mungkin masih diingat contoh keterlibatan faktor tersebut yaitu saat Asia’H Epperson yang tidak masuk 12 besar atau Michael Johns yang tidak masuk 5 besar, padahal penampilan kedua orang tersebut termasuk stabil.

Memasuki babak penyisihan empat besar menuju tiga besar, bisa ditarik kesimpulan dari beberapa penampilan para kontestan yang masih bertahan. Dari tiga besar tersisa, yakni ada kekuatan dimana dua orang kontestan yang bernama David (mereka tidak pernah menduduki posisi terbawah). dan satu orang kontestan yang bisa dianggap sebagai “kuda hitam”. Kenapa begitu? Alasannya sederhana sekali, dimana dari setiap babak yang telah dilalui hanya menyisakan dua babak saja Ia tidak menempatkan diri pada posisi terbawah. Meskipun begitu seorang Syesha Mercado layak di acungi jempol karena memang penmpilannya tidak mengecewakan, mungkin hal itu pula yang membuat Ia masih bertahan di 3 besar. Jason Castro , dengan kekuatan karakter yang dimilikinya harus rela meninggalkan kopetisi alias tersisih. Adapun kemungkinan kurangnya pendukung mungkin akibat dari penampilan minggu lalu atas dua lagu yang dibawakannya tidak memuaskan Para Juri dan penonton Amerika.

Jason Castro : Lahir 25 Maret 1987. Kota asal Rockwall, Texas. Audisi Dallas. Lagu-lagu yang dinyanyikan :

Memasuki babak penyisihan lima besar, Para juri diberi ketidakpuasan atas dua penampilan dari Jason Castro. Satu hal yang lucu terjadi pada juri Paula Abdul, dia menyebutkan pada penampilan salah satu kontestan yaitu Jason Castro, katanya kurang baik pada penampilan pertama dan keduanya, padahal baru satu kali bernyanyi heran ya, kayak yang mabuk aja dapat tulisan dari mana tuh?Dibalik semua itu, ternyata yang kurang mendapat keberuntungan yaitu Brooke White (tersisih), yang justru sebenarnya dianggap kurang pada minggu yang lalu karena mendadak lupa lirik. Sementara David Archuletta, David Cook, Jason Castro dan Syesha Mercado melaju ke empat besar.
